If you need to disconnect your softener from the bypass assembly, an important first step is depressurizing the system. Next, you'll remove the C-clips that secure the softener and bypass assembly together. Let's get started.
Click the steps below to expand directions.
Step 1 - Depressurize the Softener
1. Go ahead and bypass your softener by pushing the handle or cone in (like pictured below):
2. Now hold the Recharge button down until you hear the motor start to turn, then let go. You'll hear the motor will stop after a few seconds and then you'll see ‘Recharge Now’ or ‘Recharging’ flashing on the screen.
3. Next, you'll need to press the ‘Recharge’ button one time quickly. You'll hear the motor turn on again. This indicates that it's moving to the next cycle in the process.
4. Repeat Step 3 until the flashing 'recharge' indicator disappears from your screen.
Step 2 - Remove the C-clips
1. Now, you'll remove the black C-clips from the softener/bypass connection. Pull one side of the black plastic C-clip away from the softener, and slowly roll it towards the other side to remove.
***If the clips seem stuck, slowly and gently rock the softener back and forth slightly while applying pressure to the clip as described above to free them.
2. Lastly, you'll be able to pull the softener away from the bypass assembly. Great work!
