Your water softener will display a flashing 'Recharge' or 'Recharge Now' message when it's currently in the recharging process. Keep in mind that each stage in the recharge cycle performs a different function, so there will be times when the softener is quiet. You'll only hear the motor turn for a few seconds at a time, and only hear heavy water flow during the last 10-20 minutes of the two-hour cycle.
