Do you need to replace the venturi on your water softener? The venturi assembly is responsible for cycling water through the entire softener, making this an important piece to keep maintained in working order. Don't worry! We've got some step-by-step instructions here for you to follow. Let's go.
Locate Your Serial Number
Find the Serial Number printed on the inside rim of the tank, under the salt lid hinges.
Click on your Model below to expand directions:
First seven digits of your serial number.
1. You'll want to start off by pushing the handle IN on the back of your unit to bypass the softener. This will stop water from coming in or out of the softener while you work.
2. Go ahead and remove the top cover. If you need more detailed instructions on how, check out our Removing the Top Cover article.
3. Now, you'll disconnect the Brine hose from the Venturi (white cone piece). Identify yours below.
- If yours has a white nut attached to the Venturi: unscrew the nut by twisting it counter-clockwise and pull the hose off. Put a bowl underneath the area to catch any leaking water.
- If your hose doesn't have that white nut, you'll need to push the small collet piece in and pull the hose out at the same time to remove. Put a bowl underneath to catch any leaking water.
4. You'll need to locate the gray clip that holds the venturi into place on the side of the valve. Pull the clip straight up and out - you may need pliers for this step.
5. Pull the venturi assembly straight out to the left to remove it from the valve head. There are two small O-rings in the port where the venturi was attached - make sure to remove those as well.
6. Locate your new venturi assembly and O-rings. Place one O-ring on each of the gray ports on the venturi body.
7. Push the new venturi into the valve head and secure with the new gray triangular clip.
8. Reattach the brine hose to the venturi.
- Either screw the white nut back on by twisting it clock-wise:
- Or insert the hose into the collet. You'll need to make sure to push it in until it you notice some resistance. Then push it in a little further. The hose should be in about 5/8 of an inch.
9. Almost finished! On the back of your unit, you can pull the bypass valve back OUT to allow water flow.
10. Lastly, place the cover back on the softener. You're done!
