Making sure your system is programmed correctly is key to getting the best softened water experience. Ready to program your water softener? Follow the instructions below to begin, or for information on your extra customizing options, visit our Optional Settings article.
Click each step to expand directions.
Set the Current Time
You'll start off by setting the time. Press the Program button until you see 'Set Time', with the clock flashing. Press (or hold) the Up/Down arrows to set the current time in your area. Double check the AM/PM on the right side of the screen.
Set the Water Hardness
Next, you'll press the Program button to move forward to the 'Set Hardness' screen. The hardness of your incoming water depends on your geographical location, so there's not an 'average' or 'normal' number for this setting. You need to figure out your hardness number. To calculate your specific number, use our Hardness Programming article. Then, use the Up/Down arrows here to set the correct value:
Set the Recharge Time
Now, you'll press the Select button to move to the 'Recharge Time' screen. Your softener's recharge schedule will fluctuate based on your household's water use. Recharge cycles last about two to two and a half hours or so, on average. Make sure to set your recharge time during a period when your household is likely not using water. Many set it to recharge during the over night hours.
Set the Salt Level
This last step here depends on the model you have. Head over to our Salt Level Programming article to complete the control board set up.
